Here is a poster I designed for a show with these two bands in it, Scarce and Great Slave.
I wrote to Terry Pulliam the other day:
I suppose that’s what killed the band in the end. Trying to find a way to get a label to notice us. I was always against that strategy and I think time has proven me right. Look at labels these days, in complete disarray.
And so it goes.
Are you in a band and reading this? You know what you should read? You should read this: The Problem With Music by Steve Albini
Then save your money and build a home studio. Find a friend who screenprints to print your t-shirts. Burn your own CDs. Build yourself a website. Be nice to your fans. Be nice to your peers. Book your own tours. Play live like your life depended on it.

I always liked that Cinnamon Toast logo. It was perfect for what they were doing, handmade. Dana (last name escapes me) drew it. I have no idea who designed the poster.
Also note that our first record came out on Halloween. We were always a lot more Halloween than say, Christmas.

This poster is for a gig we played in New York City during the CMJs. I do believe the Canadian Government paid us to go. They even gave us a $100 each. Look: Sloan! Eric’s Trip! Thrush Hermit! Hardship Post!

Two more gig posters. One themed, one not. I think that jack in the box guy was pretty representative of the band. We liked to jump out at you.

From a live show in Montreal with the terrifying Six Finger Satellite. I recall J. Ryan stopped a guy from kicking my ass later that night. It was the gold lame trousers that riled the tiny Québécois bodybuilder methinks.

I remember this being one of our finer moments. Go art college freaks! GO!

How did the picture of a whole sheet of acid get onto the gig flyer? A WHOLE sheet.

Here is another poster for the Jale and Bubaiskull gig on October 24th of some year or other. Jale, as you might know, changed their name from Tag early in their career. JALE stood for Jenny, Alyson, Laura, Eve. See it spells J.A.L.E.! I don’t know who made the poster but I bet they were in Jale! HAHAHAHA See! It can also mean prison!

The word balloons had all sorts of different things written in them. I think sometimes not very nice things. We did this on a few posters. It was nice to have themes for shows. There was Bubaiskull vs. the Four Headed Cop, which was a reference to the Rodney King beating. There was a show we called The Undying Shame of MacGyver which was a reference to something shameful that MacGyver did.
